New wet underfloor heating system - Bromley
A retrofit of a screed-less wet underfloor system on a suspended timber floor.
A new customer in Bromley enquired about installing new wet underfloor heating in their kitchen. They were renovating their kitchen/dining room into one open planned space which the underfloor heating would compliment beautfully. After receiving the enquiry from our Bromley customer, FITnFIX set out a plan!
First things first was getting over to the property in Bromley for a site visit. We were then able to measure the exact dimensions of the kitchen and dining room area and obtain a detailed floor plan. We evaluated the current floor structure in order to identify any potential challenges. We were also able to look at the existing heating system's capacity to accommodate underfloor heating. We was able to determine the optimal location for the manifold and distribution pipes and plan the pipe layout to ensure even heat distribution across the floor area.
Our Bromley client had a suspended timber floor therefore a system that did not rely on screed would be preferable. They were also replacing all the flooring and removing all fixtures, a perfecto opporunity to use insulated grooved boards such as Fastwarm Duo 20mm. The benefits of this system include quick installation, minimal increase in floor level (20mm where conventional screeded systems require a minimum of 50mm). The underfloor heating system once laid can also be tiled on straight away.
Once a site visit was carried out we could then provide our Bromley customer with a comprehensive quotation which included the labour cost and timeframe, material cost and a start date to suit the customer.
Our Bromley customer agreed to our quotation and the work was scheduled. Our thorough and experienced underfloor heating engineer Bruno was excited to get another install under his belt.
Is underfloor heating better than radiators?
Underfloor heating systems operate at lower temperatures than radiators, leading to significant energy savings. This is because they heat the room from the ground up, providing a more even distribution of heat. Unlike radiators, underfloor heating warms the entire floor surface, creating a consistent and comfortable temperature throughout the room. It can also help reduce drafts and cold spots! More of our customers are enquiring about underfloor heating as its becoming more popular.
Another important advantage of underfloor heating systems is they are fully compatible with latest green heating technologies such as air source heat pump. This means if our Bromley customer choses to replace their gas boiler with a heat pump in the future their entire ground floor is ready without need to do any re-piping or changing / adding radiators.
