Cast Iron Rad in Bromley- An insight into a typical job process at FITnFIX

Fitnfix are contacted daily by new and existing customers with a variety of different enquiries. These enquiries usually turn out to be jobs with their own specific requirements. This means that Stan and Hayley who process every enquiry in our Bromley office take their time with each enquiry. We make sure that we fully understand the needs and not overlook any fine details. The process is also made as easy as possible though use of popular communication channels including whatsapp and email.

Cast Iron Radiator - an example of effective communication

On this partricular day we were contacted by a new Bromley based customer to carry out some radiators works which involved relocation of existing radiator and installation of a new cast iron radiator. This customer also sent us photos of the existing radiator set up in order to help us provide a quotation and advised us that he was getting carpet fitted.

Radiator new pipe location

By giving us all this handy information, we were able to provide a fair quotation to the customer, and to make sure the radiator work tied in correctly with the flooring and decorating that was taking place. We are also more than happy to talk to your other trade contractors to coordiante the work in the most efficient manner! We prepared adequately for the job by arranging two engineers on site to lift the radiator and booking more than one visit to accomidate the customers needs. We made sure customer had also received the correct tools for joining the cast iron radiator sections together.

All of this took place in a single day, from initial contact to quotation through to allocating the plumbers, materials and equipment.

Our Plumber's brief for the initial radiator pipe placement visit was as follows:

"Drain system, lift floors, run new pipework to new location under window. Assemble and dry fit new radiator including any wall stays. Fit valves, fill system and leave functioning. Return on a separate date to refit the radiator add inhibitor to system."

Flexibility thoughout the process

Once our new Bromley customer received our quotation, they also wanted to add a few things which we were happy to accomidate. The request was to replace hot water heating cylinder element and service a magnetic central heating filter. We made sure to explain to the customer which job synergised with existing works.

"While working on central heating system we are only draining the central heating circuit. You hot water cylinder does not get drained. We can drain the cylinder, supply new immersion and service the magnaclean."

Once the scope of additional works was understood the customer received an updated quotation and the brief for our Plumber's visit was changed accordingly. A new Megaflo element has been ordered ready for our plumber George to collect ahead of the start date.

Once the first appointment was carried out, we left it in our customers hand to make us aware when he was ready for us to reattend. We plan ahead and book the work as early as possible to avoid any unecessary delays.

Georges' report from 1st visit:

"Attended radiator replacement in Bromley. Installed radiator pipework in new position Installed wall stays, valves and pipe collars. Filled and tested pipework. Replaced immersion elements on unvented cylinder.

Left to do:Come back and reinstall rad once carpet has put down. Clear out magna clean and potentially replace o ring Dose system with inhibitor."

Georges' report from 2nd visit:

We reattended to finish the radiator work at the Bromley address with two engineers.

"Installed collum rad. Tested - all good. Magnaclean filter serviced and system dosed with inhibitor"
